DRY

The subject of this book is totally in sync with the weather right now – it’s 30.5 degrees Celcius!

Dry is about a group of people who come together when the water runs dry, on a quest to find that vital substance that rains from the heavens. Alyssa, Garrett, Kelton, Jacqui and Henry combine forces to stay alive and bond in unique ways on the way.

The Turnaway Girls by Hayley Chewins

The Turnaway girls is a sorrowful novel about a girl called Delphernia Undersea. She wants to sing, but music belongs to the Masters, and girls with singing throats are swallowed by the sea.

When a Master, Bly takes Delphernia out of the cloister, a whole terrifying new world is revealed, where the sea thrashes and the sky watches and the air is full of secrets.

The Swiss Family Robinson

Tree houses. Monkeys. Shooting sharks. Lassoing turtles. Exploring. Hunting. Fishing. Survival. If you are experiencing a disorder called uninterest, please leave this site immediately. Guns. Pistols. Explosions. Caves. Sea. Savages.

The Swiss Family Robinson is an interesting glimse into the life of a shipwrecked family. They discover how to survive and thrive on this island, building shelters, scavenging food and enjoying life – the four children; Fritz, Ernest, Jack and Franz find endless ways to occupy themselves, occasionally irritating their parents. As they grow up, they learn more and more about the island and how to optimise survival there.

ONE + ONE = THREE by Dave Trott

We live in our own representation of reality

Dave Trott

ONE + ONE =THREE is an easy to read on creative thinking. It starts with an eyebrow-raising collection of true stories, when people have gone against the grain and done something brilliant, and keeps the reader thoughtful and entertained throughout. It’s not a book that you will hear about much, but I’d like to make it one – this book deserves a place on your bookshelf.

The Wolf Wilder

The Wolf Wilder – one of my favourite books. It is told frankly, simply and to the point. The passionate book has a moving storyline and an underlying dry humour. It perfectly describes the burning love between mother and daughter, Feo and Marina, and Feo’s fierce protection of her wolf-family.

You will keep your hands off my daughter if you value their current position at the ends of your arms.

Marina, Feo’s mother

It takes you to a country of ice and snow, pink cheeks and clumsy fingers. This book vividly enhances the colours, smells and feelings of Russia.

Mockingjay (SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS BOOKS)

The breathtaking finish to the epic Hunger Games trilogy. Katniss has lost Peeta, her home, and her restraint. She abandons all caution on a quest to overthrow President Snow and recover the love of her life.

The Hunger Games go out with a bang.

If we burn, you burn with us.

Catching Fire (SPOILER ALERT)

The nail-biting sequel to the Hunger Games featuring Katniss, Peeta and the rest of the crew as they face their toughest challenges yet, facing the arena and the Capitol once more.

Katniss’ trick with the berries has sparked rebellion, and she must dampen the fire, so to speak. But is that the right thing to do? Should Katniss stand for what is right, and risk her life, or consent to President Snow’s demands, and spare herself and her family?

The Hunger Games trilogy

The Hunger Games. Action-packed. Heart-wrenching. Thrilling. Those are the first words that come to mind when someone says, The Hunger Games. Survival. Love. Family. Cruelty. Rights. Adrenaline. If you aren’t interested, say so, because if I’ve made the Hunger Games sound bad, there is something wrong.

Book 1: The Hunger Games. Katniss knows she needs to do something. Her sister, Prim, and her mother are starving slowly. The reaping has come, and Katniss has twenty slips with her name on them. The odds are not in her favour. Will she be picked out for the bloodthirsty battle to the death?
